Al Nakheel to showcase new identity
AL Nakheel Media International will relaunch its identity at Index Dubai with a brand new slogan – Wider Inclusive Horizons.
The new identity will represent a full-fledged service provider supported by a team of experts to execute new products and services comprising interior and exterior design, landscaping design, 3D still imaging, 3D animations/walkthrough, 3D modelling, consultancy branding, consultancy advertising and marketing, creative design, PR and event management and more.
Al Nakheel, which has directed its focus on interior design and decoration besides construction, sees Index Dubai, due to be held this month (November 14 to 17), as a big opportunity to invest in the future.
“We propose to focus on Islamic and Arabic designs because we are proud of our tradition and want to create more awareness among the people about this heritage,” says a company spokesman.
Domotex, R+T to tap key markets
DEUTSCHE Messe Dubai Branch is gearing up to roll out its fifth edition of Domotex Middle East, the region’s only dedicated carpets and floor-coverings expo.
The 2010 edition will feature an enhanced selection of product offerings and trade activities to complement a major upturn in the carpets and floor covering industry. To be held from May 10 to 12 next year at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC), the event will aim to meet strong demands in the GCC and Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region’s carpet and floor-coverings markets, while at the same time taking advantage of the resurgence of traditional growth markets in the UAE.
Domotex Middle East will be held in concurrence with R+T Middle East 2010, a pioneering trade platform for shutters, sun protection, rolling doors and garage doors in the Mena region.
Architectural membranes in focus
THE role of tensile structures and eco-friendly fabrics in achieving complex architectural designs were highlighted at the second International Symposium on Architectural Membranes Conference (Isam 2009), which was held in Dubai, UAE, last month.
The two-day seminar aimed to also shed light on fundamental properties and present state-of-the-art techniques in textile roof design and optimisation.
The School of Engineering at the American University in Dubai (AUD) organised Isam 2009 in cooperation with Verseidag Indutex, Germany, a worldwide manufacturer of quality textile architecture and tensile fabrics.
The event featured a wide range of international speakers and was attended by students and faculty members from the AUD community, construction and engineering sectors.
Intersec eyes $1bn industry
EXHIBITORS at the Intersec trade fair and conference to take place in January next year will have their sights set on the $1-billion Gulf security market projected to grow at 10 per cent annually.
To be held from January 17 to 19, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Dubai, UAE, Intersec will have commercial security as one of its largest segments, showcasing the most advanced products, services and technologies by key global players, its organiser Epoc Messe Frankfurt said.
The potential for huge growth will offer security, police, fire, military, rescue and safety companies an outstanding opportunity, the company said.
Epoc Messe Frankfurt managing director Elisabeth Brehl said: “The growing importance of the event has underlined development of the security sector and safety measures across the region, with fire safety emerging as a major discipline, generating a demand for consultancy and training services.”
Piling contractors meet in Riyadh
THE biggest piling contractors in Saudi Arabia will come together to discuss some of their more innovative work at the Piling & Deep Foundations Saudi Arabia Summit, which will be held this month (November 7 to 10) at the Radisson Blu hotel in Riyadh.
“Despite the unfavourable economic climate witnessed in most countries, Saudi Arabia has retained enviable growth rates due to massive oil reserves and a sound financial system,” said a spokesman for the summit.
“The Saudi government’s ambitious investment programmes, highlighted by the development of economic cities across the kingdom, continue to attract private investment and a multitude of contractors,” he added.
7,000 attend Power-Gen Asia
STRENGTHENING energy security for sustained economic growth was the focus of a power forum held in Thailand, which saw record participation.
Power-Gen Asia and Renewable Energy World Asia conference, held in October, shattered its past record with nearly 7,000 power professionals attending the most successful event in its 17-year history.
Inge unveils pretreatment unit
INGE Watertechnologies will be presenting a brand new product at the IDA World Congress on Desalination and Water Reuse, being held in Dubai this month (November 7 to 12).
The ultrafiltration specialist will be showcasing the “dizzer XL 0.9 MB 60” – the highlight of its new generation of products, featuring a 60-sq-m membrane surface area. This module is particularly suited for pretreatment of sea water desalination, as well as for deployment in large-scale facilities used to treat drinking water, process water and waste water.
