AS MANY as 166,426 professionals and 1,530 exhibitors, including 320 from abroad, attended this year’s Saie in Bologna, Italy, marking another impressive showing by the leading international building exhibition.
“The industry responded dynamically to the event held from October 28 to 31, with only a slight decline in visitors compared with last year,” says a spokesman for BolognaFiere, the event’s organiser. “There was great interest in this year’s focus on energy efficiency, social housing and innovation – all considered key drivers in kickstarting the industry.”
Exhibitors from all sectors gave the thumbs up to the event.
“Even in these critical times, there was great interest in new technologies for the innovative use of energy,” said Gualtiero Seva, division manager of Mitsubishi Electric Fotovoltaico. “We made many contacts, showing that the integration of architecture and technologies to achieve energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important in the industry.”
Atecap director Alberto De Vizio said he was very satisfied by the results achieved at Saie and Saieconcrete, despite the downturn. “The 2009 edition demonstrated the importance of Saie, an essential event for networking on vital subjects for the industry. It highlighted the need for quality and training in the industry and the reinforced concrete sector, and the importance of new technical regulations,” he said.
Gruppo Saint Gobain Italia president Gianni Scotti also expressed his satisfaction with the event which he described as “an absolute reference point, offering a complete and innovative approach to building and energy efficiency.”
Saie 2009 focused on new building techniques and offered a full programme of events and workshops on a wide variety of subjects.
