Sustainability in the spotlight

01 November 2009

SINGAPORE will be put forward as a case study to determine urban sustainability at the Icsid World Design Congress 2009, where leading architects will explore the ‘metabolism’ of future mega cities to take on challenges of rapid urbanisation.

David Nelson and Stefan Behling of Foster & Partners, and Richard Hassell and Wong Mun Summ of Woha will debate how cities of the world can develop and sustain in the future amid rapid urbanisation while using Singapore as a case study of a city with limited resources for the next 40 years.
The 50th Anniversary Icsid World Design Congress, titled Design Difference: Designing our World 2050 will be held in Singapore this month (November 23 to 25). It will help participants create and debate potential design solutions to some of the key challenges facing the world of tomorrow.
