ABSOL International has launched Monoglass, a Canadian thermal and acoustic insulation product and Damtec, a German-Australian acoustic underlay, both considered to be the best-in-class.
These innovations are part of a new green product line-up that the Dubai-based regional leader in acoustic and insulation solutions in launching in a bid to diversify its business, while meeting the demand for environment-friendly insulation and acoustic solutions across the region.
Commenting on the launch of the new products, Gaurav Sharrma, the company’s director, says: “Absol International is the only company in the region to introduce green-compliant insulation and acoustic solutions along with a range of other traditional acoustic products, thus making us the only one-stop-solution provider of acoustic solutions.”
“With sustainability becoming the new focus of the construction industry, market demand is rising for new acoustic products and reinforcements that are non-toxic, biodegradable and recyclable while providing enhanced fire rating, high noise reduction, high moisture barrier and strength. In addition to superior acoustic functional coefficients, both the products have been tested and proven to be green-specs complaint. Absol is expanding its focus beyond the traditional product line-up to tap the opportunity and we expect a healthy and steadily growing demand for these products,” adds Sharrma.
Unlike traditional products, Monoglass is directly sprayed on the surface, up to a thickness of five inches without support, forming monolithic layers of insulation. “The Class One fire-rated product that conforms to EU standards for bio-non-persistence offers thermal resistance of R-4/inch along with a noise reduction coefficient of NRC 1.07 for a three-inch depth, high transmission class rating and excellent reverberation control, making it an ideal product for controlling sound within confined spaces like auditoriums, gymnasiums, shopping malls, factories and multi-tenancy buildings,” he says.
Damtec, an acoustic underlay applied directly under screed, tiles or parquet floor, offers highest acoustic performance amongst products of its class, with a 2 mm Damtec outperforming the 4.5 mm standard underlays being used in the region, he claims. About 90 per cent of Damtec is composed from a recycled medical grade rubber.
Sharrma envisages a widespread application for these products in the construction sector and is already in the process of collaborating with major construction companies and architectural firms, involved in building major sports facilities, schools and leisure projects that are Leed (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)-complaint and seek to reduce the overall carbon footprint of projects.
With a strong production base in the UAE, Absol manufactures a wide range of products such as acoustic louvres, sound attenuators, acoustic enclosures, acoustic doors and many other HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning)-related products in its own facilities. An in-house team of dedicated designers further enhances the abilities of the company in the field of acoustic design and installation. This year, the company envisages consolidating its production activities under a single purpose-built facility currently under construction in Sharjah.
