50,000 visitors anticipated at Megabuild

MEGABUILD 2011 is set to gather more than 1,000 exhibitors and 50,000 professional visitors at the CNR Expo Istanbul in Turkey next month (September 8 to 11). It will also attract buyers from 38 countries, according to its organiser CNR Trade Fairs and Imsad (Association of Turkish Building Material Producers).

The event, covering all eight halls of the venue involving an area of 120,000 sq m, will showcase all core construction materials including flooring, paints and coatings, varnish, hydro sanitary products, ceramics, insulation materials, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning), energy solutions, electric and automation products, construction elements, purification systems, suspended ceiling systems and accessories, bathroom and kitchen equipment, construction technologies and equipment.

According to a spokesperson for the organiser, the show will welcome buyer delegations from Germany, the UAE, Bahrain, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Brazil, Algeria, Morocco, Croatia, India, Holland, Iraq, the UK, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Canada, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kuwait, Macedonia, Egypt, Nigeria, Oman, Poland, Romania, Russia, Sudan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, Jordan, Tunisia and Greece.

Some of the delegates who have confirmed their participation include the Iraqi Ministry of Industry and Minerals and the Industrial Development and Regulatory Directorate. Also at the show will be delegates from the Macedonia Ministry of Transport and Communications and the President of Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce with a large delegation.

The show, covering an area of 120,000 sq m, aims to become one of the top three fairs of the world by 2015.

“CNR has signed a seven-year strategic cooperation protocol with Imsad that brings together industrialists, 25 professional associations and their stakeholders and approximately 2,000 companies under one roof. The aim of this show is to bring the sector’s professionals from around the world to Istanbul CNR Expo,” says the spokesman.

“Turkish contractors have been involved with more than 5,000 projects in 81 countries of the world and have earned more than $155 billion between 1972 and 2009. The world’s construction materials market is expected to annually grow at 5.5 per cent and by 2012 reach a volume of $1.75 trillion,” he says.

The Turkish construction materials and construction sectors are expected to grow by more than 10 per cent in the next five years. In 2008, Turkey’s construction sector recorded exports worth $24.3 billion and by 2023, on the centennial anniversary of the republic, the sector is targeting $100 billion in domestic sales and exports.
