Innovative solutions

LEADING formwork specialist Doka Saudi Arabia will be launching innovative products on the region’s market at Saudi Build. To be displayed alongside its latest solutions, some of these products will be backed by live demonstrations aimed at convincing visitors about the ease of use and versatility of its systems.

To be introduced to the region at the show are the Staxo 40 load-bearing tower – which will be the star attraction at the company’s live demo area – and Frami Xlife lightweight framed formwork. Other latest formwork solutions showcased will be the Dokaflex table for slabs and Framax Life framed formwork.

“This is our third consecutive year at Saudi Build, an event which provides an ideal platform for professional networking,” says Omer Khawaja, Doka’s head of marketing, adding that the company had received a good response in the last two events.

This year, the Doka’s stand will cover 72 sq m in the Austrian Pavilion.

Doka’s ready-to-use formwork solution ... hassle-free construction.

Elaborating on the features of the Staxo 40, Khawaja says: “The lightweight load-bearing tower is perfectly tailored to the needs of the building construction segment. It is light, quick and extremely easy to handle. By engineering weight optimisation, Doka developers succeeded in reducing deadweight by a significant margin and matching the lightweight design to rigidity and optimum load-bearing capability. Because of its ergonomic frame geometry, Staxo 40 towers are quick and easy to erect and dismantle manually.”

Staxo 40 offers maximum versatility for all the usual propping requirements. Doka offers three frame heights (0.90 m, 1.20 m, 1.80 m) and diagonal crosses of various lengths, enabling the tower to be adapted easily and economically to different structural heights and loads. The frame pitch can be varied in steps of 50 cm to match the load-bearing requirements, ensuring optimum material utilisation, says Khawaja.

The screw-jack U-head and the screw-jack foot afford a total screw-out length of 140 mm for maximum height adjustability and spot-on precision adjustment of the scaffold towers, even under load, he adds.

“Staxo 40 ensures superlative safety of forming operations. The unique H-shaped frame geometry makes it possible, for the first time, to have barrier-free workplace access routes and the working platform at any level, making working inside and beneath the tower frame superstructure much easier, quicker and safer,” he points out.

Doka’s load-bearing towers have already proven their advantages to the GCC market, he adds.

The CMA tower ... another of Doka’s projects.

As one of the leading companies in formwork solutions in the construction industry, Doka has a broad product range for wall, column and slab formwork, load-bearing towers, climbing formwork and system components, among other products.

“All products meet high safety standards,” Khawaja says. “We also offer a unique re-conditioning service, technical design, on-site support and Doka training. Our structure enables us to meet the demands of our clients anywhere and anytime.”

Commenting on business over the past year, Khawaja says: “Business has been challenging for everyone, especially in this market. However, our 30 years of experience in Saudi Arabia has helped us increase our market share.”

He says Saudi Arabia’s construction market was booming last year compared to its neighbours in the Gulf mainly due to its strong economic policies, which have fuelled growth this year as well.

Doka Saudi Arabia has worked on several projects in the kingdom. These include the King Abdullah Financial District, Tamkeen Tower, CMA tower, the Burj Rafal tower, Information Technology Communications Complex (ITCC), Princess Nora University for Women, King Saud University women’s campus, and Granada Business Park, all in Riyadh. In the Western Province, Doka’s projects include the Lamar Tower, Galleria Commercial Centre, and the extension to the Haram and Jabal Omar in Makkah.

Established in 1980, Doka Saudi Arabia is headquartered in Jeddah with offices in Riyadh and Dammam. The company has a dedicated team of more than 150 highly skilled personnel.

Elsewhere in the region, Doka has offices in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, the UAE, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, and Iran.
