SAUDI-OWNED Rezayat Protective Coating Company will be exhibiting its fusion-bonded epoxy-coated (FBEC) steel reinforcement bars as well as other products and services at this year’s Saudi Build.

Rezayat is returning to Saudi Build to benefit further from the international exposure that the event offers, following its satisfactory performance at the show last year, according to the company’s general manager Riyadh Al Homoud.
Rezayat specialises in the production of FBEC steel reinforcement bars, which are widely used in the construction of buildings, highway bridges, culverts, tunnels, and other infrastructural developments. The bars from 8 to 40 mm size are produced according to ASTM A775 standards.

“The fusion-bonded epoxy coating protects steel rebar from corrosion, giving prolonged life to concrete structures,” says Al Homoud.

The main advantage of the coated epoxy powder film is that it eliminates the contact between the steel bars and corrosion agents that exist in the surrounding environment such as moisture, chloride and industrial chemicals, which ultimately will protect the steel from corrosion and extend the life time of structures/buildings, he adds.

Rezayat’s plant is located in the Dammam Second Industrial City and currently has an annual production capacity of 100,000 tonnes per annum. It has in-house facilities to fabricate (cut and bend) coated steel bar in accordance to the original structural drawings. The company also supplies coated wire mesh.

While business was good for the company last year, Rezayat is looking forward to a better year based on the benefits of a stable domestic market.

The company is an approved supplier to several large companies in Saudi Arabia such as Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco), Saline Water Conversion Company (SWCC), Saudi Electric Company (SEC) and the Royal Commission of Jubail and Yanbu.

Rezayat coated rebars have been used within Saudi Arabia on several major industrial and commercial projects. Some of the key projects handled by the company last year include King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (Kapsarc) in Riyadh for M R Al Khathlan; the Cultural Centre in Dhahran, for Saudi Aramco; Jubail Export Refinery for Kettaneh Construction and Al Nassar Trading; and the Yanby Export Refinery for AR Shalawi.

Other projects to which it supplied over the past year include the Jeddah drainage channel culvert for STFA–Alwan; Qurayyah Power Plant expansion for Unicorp International; the expansion of the Marafiq independent water treatment plant (Stage Three) in Jubail for Allied Engineering and Sete Energy; various bridges in the Eastern Province for Nassir Hazza and Brothers, and Sinopec International; bridges in Dammam, Hassa and Uqair for Abdul Ali Al Ajmi; as well as projects for the Royal Commission of Jubail and Yanbu.

Overseas, Rezayat’s coated rebar have been used at the US Embassy in the Philippines, the Qatar embassy in Sudan, Port of Aden in Yemen and Kuwait University in Shuwaikh.

Rezayat Protective Coating Company was established at the end of 1992 in Al Khobar in the Dammam’s Second Industrial City and has a branch office in Jeddah. An ISO 9001:2000-certified company, Rezayat employs a total of 100 people, has an annual turnover of $50 million.

Rezayat will be exhibiting at Stand 120-1 at Saudi Build.
