The Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa ... now receiving the final touches.

Eastern Mangroves Phase One on target

01 May 2012

THE first phase of the Eastern Mangroves complex in Abu Dhabi will be completed next month, said the Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), master-developer of cultural, residential and tourism destinations in Abu Dhabi.

The first component to be launched will be the five-star Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa, which is being managed by the Thai operator Anantara. This will be followed by the first phase of the residential element in the third quarter.

The development, which also consists of several residential buildings and the Eastern Mangroves Promenade retail centre and a 30-berth marina, is expected to be fully ready by the end of this year. Construction work on the project started in 2009.

Stretching along 1.2 km of Abu Dhabi’s protected eastern mangroves district, the development overlooks the capital’s skyline, with easy access to the city centre via Al Salaam Street.

With 2,300 workers currently engaged in completing the buildings, attention has been turned to putting the final touches on the hotel and completing the first phase of the residential buildings.

Almost all rooms and suites, and the majority of front-of-house areas and exterior works of the hotel have been completed. In addition, the main construction work of the Promenade retail complex is completed and handover of the outlets to tenants will begin in the third quarter of this year.

Residents, guests and visitors can reach Eastern Mangroves both by land and sea; the 30-berth marina will facilitate yachts and boats.

Impressive development ... Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa.

The residential component of Eastern Mangroves consists of the high-end, luxurious units of The Residences and the sleek, spacious apartments of The Promenade Apartments. The Residences feature only 50 high-end units, which is indicative of the level of exclusivity they offer. The Promenade Apartments feature a selection of 170 spacious units set across two buildings.

Nabil Al Kendi, chief development officer at TDIC, said: “We’re excited to see Eastern Mangroves begin to come to life. This is a complex project with many facets. We believe this is set to become a major hospitality and residential destination within Abu Dhabi.”

The Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara comprises a 222-room five-star hotel that offers a luxury spa, impressive ballroom and a variety of high-end restaurants.

Michel Koopman, director of operations Middle East for Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas and general manager, Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara said: “We are eagerly anticipating the opening of this impressive property; with a convenient location, state-of-the-art business and meetings facilities and world-class dining and leisure offerings, the Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara will provide an outstanding experience for visitors to Abu Dhabi.”
