Leister’s Triac AT receives red dot honour

01 May 2012

TRIAC AT, an intelligent hot air tool for welding and shrinking plastic, has been honoured by red dot award product design 2012 – one of the largest and most prestigious design competitions in the world held in Germany.

The new Triac AT is a product of Leister Technologies of Switzerland, whose exclusive sales and service partner for the Middle East is the UAE-based BMC Gulf.

Triac AT won an honourable mention in the industry and craft category of the competition in which more than 1,800 companies and independent designers from 58 countries took part. The competition that registered a total of 4,515 entries in 19 categories takes into account challenging aspects of design and only products with tremendously detailed solutions are honoured in this praiseworthy mention, said a spokesman for Leister.

“Participants who stand out are given the ‘red dot’ seal of quality by an international team of 30 experts who survey, test and evaluate every individual product. Various criteria such as innovative creativity, functionality, self-explanatory quality or ecological compatibility are assessed,” he added.

The awards presentation ceremony will take place on July 2, 2012 in the world-renowned Aalto theatre, in Essen, Germany.

The Triac AT, which sports an ergonomic design and a modern look and enables secure handling, is designed to meet the needs of even the most demanding professional. Thanks to its e-Drive, the Triac AT comes with an operating unit that is not only advanced but easy to use. The turning button located behind the easy-grip housing allows all required functions to be set without any difficulty. The large display ensures that information is clearly visible and distinct. The advanced electronics ensure that the temperature automatically adjusts, while the air volume can be set independently.

The temperature probe located in front of the heating element enables the greatest precision.

The high-quality hot air tool is equipped for any use. “Its universal areas of application are virtually unlimited: The Triac AT can be used both on the roof, in civil engineering, for billboards and tarpaulins, for plastic floors, in plastic fabrication as well as for shrinking. It proves its worth in any weather, and is just as effective outside on the building site as it is indoors – and all this in continuous use,” the spokesman said.

Leister has been the worldwide leader in the field of plastic welding and hot-air blowers for more than 60 years. For several years now, the company has also been offering innovative and effective laser systems and microsystems.
