EUROPEAN aluminium systems provider Reynaers made a strong impression at the Bau trade fair held recently in Germany, with a sizeable contingent from its Middle East operations also in attendance.
The group’s stand at the leading exhibition for architecture, materials and systems held in Munich in January (14 to 19) attracted a total of 2,100 visitors. A group of 30 fabricators, architects and consultants from Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon invited by the company attended the flagship event along with a seven-member team from Reynaers Middle East, the Bahrain-headquartered regional office of the Belgian firm.
Bau served as a launch pad for Reynaers’ latest innovations and the company also used the occasion to highlight to its Middle East guests the company’s global strength and facilities while giving them the opportunity to network with various stakeholders in the same industry from around the world.
Under Bau’s theme of urbanisation, Reynaers showcased its latest low-energy innovations for larger and more transparent doors, featuring modern, sleek designs and elevated levels of safety and security.

These include its Hi-Finity sliding doors that boast an ultra-slim design that gives large transparent door and window surfaces a light, sleek and elegant appearance, allowing a seamless view of the exterior through the sliding system aided by its apparently borderless slim profiles. At the same time, the system is extremely strong and durable, thanks to the innovative bonding of the aluminium profiles with the glazed surfaces that enables the large glass panels to carry up to 500 kg.
The Hi-Finity is also available in double and triple-glazed versions to provide even higher thermal insulating solutions. This is further enhanced through the system’s air-tightness, where Teflon-covered gaskets create a firm barrier against air intrusion. The sections that provide the connections between glass panes are designed with a Reynaers-patented adjustable profile that guarantees a perfect fit for complete air-tightness, said a spokesman for Reynaers.
Different opening designs including duo rail, three-rail and central closing provide solutions for up to six movable glass panes per application.
In addition to its layered glass, Hi-Finity offers a strong anti-burglary system that has successfully been tested to RC2 specifications. The locking mechanism is stashed away behind the wall on top of the door, making it difficult for burglars to tamper with it. In spite of its robust bolt and hook, however, locking and unlocking the system requires a simple push on the elegant handle or a remote control button, the spokesman pointed out.
“The system’s handle features an attractive, slim and streamlined design that would add aesthetic value to any modern building,” he added.
Reynaers also presented to visitors four aesthetic handle ranges of which the PuRity attracted much attention with its fresh design and functionality. This series combines next-generation material and mechanical properties with the superior Italian design of designer Leo De Carlo, who previously worked in the studios of Philippe Starck. The new handles can be used on most openings, including standard windows and doors, including sliding and lift-and-slide doors. They are available in three standard colours – sapphire black, moonlight white and lithium – with a further six colours available on demand.
PuRity is manufactured from Pura, a new material with extraordinary qualities and Reynaers has obtained the exclusive right internationally to use it in its handles, the spokesman said.
To address the security and safety concerns of urban living, Reynaers introduced the integration of the Siegenia 4200 LM burglar-resistant gear on its systems to enhance their burglar-resistant abilities and to reduce assembly time. The company has obtained the exclusive right to use this new burglar resistance solution which was an important feature at its ‘urbanisation’ stand, the spokesman added.
The modern and contemporary Siegenia 4200 LM sashes are clamped into the euro-groove with easy access for fixation. This enables fast and effortless assembly in modular units as and where they are required. It allows locking points and link bars to be connected directly to the corner of profiles, reducing the time that was required to assemble locking points by half.
The group from the Middle East also visited Reynaers Aluminium’s global headquarters in Duffel, Belgium, and toured its various facilities including the testing and training centre – The Reynaers Institute – the largest private institute of its kind in Europe.
The 2,800-sq-m institute, which focuses on sharing the know-how and experience with architects, fabricators, contractors and other building partners, also has a training centre, an automation centre and a test centre.
