Mall expansion to start next year

Construction of the second phase of the Oman Avenues Mall, a division of the LuLu Group International, will start early next year, a report said.

The second phase will be constructed on top of the LuLu Hypermarket, complementing other components of the mall, the Times of Oman quoted Oman Avenues Mall general manager Ben Watson as saying.

This phase will see the construction of a cinema and shops at a cost of around $3.98 million. 

 

Oman to build first snow village

A RO12-million ($31 million) deal was signed with a Dutch firm for the first snow village in Oman, to be a part of the ‘Palm Mall’ project in Muscat, according to a report.

It will be the first-of-its-kind snow village in the sultanate within the Entertainment City of the mall, which also includes a number of education and entertainment facilities for various age groups, said the Oman Daily Observer report.

 

Wabag JV to build sewage plant

Indian water treatment specialist VA Tech Wabag along with its joint venture (JV) partner Belhasa Projects has won its first EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract in Bahrain worth Rs580 crores ($91 million), a report said.

Under the contract, the JV will design and build a sewage treatment plant (STP) with a capacity of 40 million litres per day for Al Madina Al Shamaliya (Northern Town), a new town being developed by the Ministry of Housing in Bahrain, reported The Economic Times.

The mixed-use project, featuring 15,000 residential units, will be developed over 750 hectares of reclaimed land off the north coast of Bahrain.

The project is being funded by Abu Dhabi Fund for Economic Development, the report quoted a VA Tech Wabag official as saying.

 

Doosan wins Muscat STP deal

Korean conglomerate Doosan Heavy Industries has won a contract to undertake Phase Two expansion of Al Ansab sewage treatment plant (STP) in Muscat, Oman, at a cost of $90 million, a report said.

The Haya Water project entails the construction of a plant capable of processing 50,000 tonnes of wastewater a day, reported the Oman Observer.

Doosan will be responsible for equipment supply, construction, and pilot operation of the project, which is scheduled for completion by 2017.

The US-headquartered global multi-disciplinary consultancy services firm Aecom is providing the engineering design for Phase Two of the STP project.
