WSP/Parsons to design highway

WSP/Parsons Brinckerhoff, a leading professional services consulting firm, has won a major highway design project in Kuwait.

The project, awarded by Kuwait’s Ministry of Public Works, involves developing concept and detailed designs to upgrade Kabd-Sulaibiya Highway (KSH) in the Kuwait Metropolitan Area.

It also includes preparation of tender documents and tender evaluation, followed by a construction supervision assignment in the later stages, said WSP/Parsons Brinckerhoff.

Basheer Mohammed, head of transportation and infrastructure and lead director in Kuwait, said: “We have a long-standing relationship with the Ministry of Public Works and are pleased to be working with them on this important and exciting project. This is testament to the in-depth understanding we have of our clients’ challenges and expectations.”

WSP/Parsons Brinckerhoff’s completed projects in Kuwait include Package One of the Kuwait First Ring Road upgrade where it provided design and construction supervision services.

It has also finished the design and tender documents work for the Second Ring Road, Third Ring Road, Cairo and Damascus streets upgrade project, besides the Nawaiseeb Road upgrade, Al Andalus, Al Grenata and Sabah Al Nasser areas rehabilitation for improvement of sewerage and infrastructure and South Surra area road network upgrade, according to Mohammed.

A number of contract packages for these projects are currently being tendered, he added.

A major player in the region, WSP/Parsons Brinckerhoff provides services to transform the built environment and restore the natural environment.

It is involved in high-profile projects that include Al Mutlaa housing project, Kuwait; the Orbital Highway Contract One, Doha Metro, Qatar Rail Strategic Programme Management, and Al Wakrah Bypass Road, all in Qatar; Rabigh PP2 and Makkah Public Transport Programne, in Saudi Arabia; and New York University in Abu Dhabi, and  Dubai Mall expansion, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park Phase One, Seventh Heaven at Al Barari in Dubai, all in the UAE.
