JACC wins Index design award
Kuwait’s Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Cultural Centre (JACC) has been named the Best Cultural Design Project at the Index Architecture & Design Awards 2018 (IADAs) held in Dubai recently.
Index is internationally respected as the largest design-oriented trade show in the Middle East.
SSH was appointed by design and build contractor Al Hani Construction & Trading Company, as the lead architecture and engineering designer on the four-building complex. Since its grand opening in November 2016, the centre has won several architectural and design awards, now adding its IADA win to its roster, said SSH.
Together, with the recently opened Sheikh Abdullah Al Ahmad Cultural Centre (ASCC), also designed by SSH, JACC forms part of Kuwait City’s new national cultural district.
Al Kout Mall opens in Kuwait
Tamdeen Group, a property developer in Kuwait, has opened Al Kout Mall to the public as the latest addition to Al Kout, Kuwait’s largest waterfront retail and leisure destination.
Al Kout Mall is interconnected to the rest of the destination’s six experiences. While there is a direct connection to the Al Kout Rotana hotel from the mall, a pedestrian bridge on the mezzanine level connects to the modern Arabic-style Souq Al Kout with its iconic musical fountains, said the Kuwaiti conglomerate.
With the addition of Al Kout Mall, the Al Kout Project now offers a total of 100,000 sq m of retail opportunities, across 360 retail outlets.
The mall has three entrances on the ground level and several entrances from the multi-level car-park.
Firms vie for residential projects
More than 56 Bahraini and Saudi companies are in the race for two major residential projects in the Wadi Al Sail and Galali areas of the kingdom which are being built for the benefit of BDF affiliates.
Bahrain’s Ministry of Housing has opened pre-qualification documents for the construction for these two projects, which are being funded by the Saudi government.
The foundation stone for the housing projects was laid in February this year.
The work on the 267-unit Wadi Al Sail project and the 213-unit Galali project will begin in September and is due for completion by the end of 2019.
