Abu Dhabi City Municipality has invited developers to build and operate a partially developed beach project in the UAE capital.
The project, located on an island in the residential neighbourhood of Al Bateen, comprises three main zones – the ladies beach, public beach and waterfront walkway. The municipality said the project is aimed at transforming the beach into a vibrant recreation and leisure destination for Abu Dhabi.
The project will integrate innovative features and major water attractions to enhance the ladies beach and the public beach, it said.
Beach-oriented food and beverage (F&B) elements and retail areas of up to 6,062 sq m will be some of the highlights, it added.
The project will be undertaken in collaboration with the private sector under a Musataha contract, which entitles developers to benefit from the land and facilities for 32 years following which their ownership will revert back to the municipality.
The deadline for submission of bids is September 15.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality has also sought bidders to develop a park in Abu Dhabi on a build-and-operate basis. The Sharia Park project is located along the highway between the capital and Dubai at an interchange near Al Rabha in Abu Dhabi.
The municipality said the development will integrate a new district park, water play and orchards with a major bio-dome attraction and a 50,000-sq-m commercial space comprising hospitality, F&B and retail areas. The deadline for submission of bids is September 29.
