Scanmikael, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of moveable glass walls and office glass walls and smart glass solutions, is showcasing its shopping mall concept and smart glass walls at this year’s Big 5 in Dubai.
This will be the company’s third consecutive participation in the event, which it considers to be an important platform to build new partnerships and a meeting place for buyers and sellers from the same sector to come in direct contact, the Finnish company’s managing director Joni Kaski tells Gulf Construction.
Scanmikael’s products are mainly used in the construction of hospitals, hotels, educational institutions, religious buildings, storefronts, restaurants, and office environments. And all its product groups are the result of inhouse product development and testing.
Scanmikael will be exhibiting two main product groups at The Big 5.
The first is the ‘L-35-mall’ shopping mall concept, which provides great flexibility in the construction of commercial premises, says Kaski.
He says: “The movable glass wall system has been developed for comprehensive space division with glass.”
The rails of the L-35-mall are shaped according to the divided space and enable even large elements to be moved easily.
The rails bend according to the room partitions, and combined with the patented latch structure to guarantee easy usability. The moveable glass walls are available with soundproofing and burglary protection features.
The second product will be its new ‘L-35-smart’ moveable smart glass wall.
According to Kaski, smart glass or switchable glass is highly suitable for hospital and healthcare sites as it offers privacy and safety. The new specially designed system is equipped with electrically controlled switchable glass and with a single click, you can change an opaque glass wall into a transparent one, he adds.
Kaski says by installing smart glass wall systems, healthcare institutions can replace privacy curtains and thus reduce costs as well as the risk of spreading infections.
He says Scanmikael is ready to serve projects in the Gulf area with this product.
Commenting on the factors that prompted the company to participate in The Big 5, he says Scanmikael is in the midst of implementing its internationalisation strategy and this key construction showcase provides a fitting launchpad for its new products and venue to penetrate the UAE market.
Business is growing for the company and the outlook is positive, says Kaski, whose confidence stems from Scanmikael’s good product range and team of professionals.
Last summer, Scanmikael opened a new manufacturing facility, which doubled its capacity by adding new manufacturing and storage technologies. “This extra capacity is needed to serve our upcoming projects in our new and old markets,” says Kaski.
The company uses advanced installation technology including robots to ensure its installers work in a safe environment.
The company also opened new offices in Sweden and the UAE this summer and expects more projects from these areas.
Part of the Duuri group, Scanmikael was founded 2001. Duuri is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, and has over 40 years of experience in the manufacture of interior finishing products. It has production facilities and a sales office in Pori, Finland, and a sales office in Jönköping, Sweden. Its Gulf sales office is in Tesla Business Centre in Opal Tower, Business Bay, Dubai.
Scanmikael’s main markets are the Scandinavian region as well as northern Europe, Australia, the UAE and the Baltic countries.
Scanmikael will be exhibiting at Stand SS2 A80 at The Big 5 2019.
