Two projects in the Gulf – Bahrain’s ‘Revitalisation of Muharraq’ project and Wasit Wetland Centre in Sharjah – are among the winners of the 2019 Aga Khan Award for Architecture, announced recently.  A total of six projects were selected for the award.






Diyar Al Muharraq, one of the leading urban developers in Bahrain, has announced that work is nearing completion on ‘Hadiqat Al Diyar’, the largest park in its masterplan, and all set for opening in the fourth quarter of 2019.






Kuwait has awarded KD109 million ($358 million) worth of contracts for the development of the Al Mutlaa Residential City, one of the country’s most vital housing projects, said Kuna state news agency.






Qatar Petroleum (QP) has issued tenders for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of additional liquid products storage and loading facilities and mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) storage and distribution facilities. These will be located in Ras Laffan Industrial City and will be part of the North Field Expansion (NFE) Project.

Raysut Cement Company, Oman’s largest cement manufacturer, has signed a land lease agreement and Port of Terminal services agreement with Port of Duqm for building a new grinding unit in Oman at an investment of $30 million.






Saudi Arabia’s National Steel Company has signed a usufruct agreement with Salalah Free Zone Company (SFZ) to build the largest iron industries complex in Oman at an investment of $500 million. The construction work on the mega project will start in the first quarter of 2020, said SFZ in its twitter account.






Polin to build waterpark in Oman Turkey-based Polin Group, a leading water-parks brand, will make its debut in the GCC next year with a new waterpark in Muscat, Oman, a media report said. The waterpark will be built at Al Bustan in collaboration with the BBH Group, a real estate organisation in the sultanate, reported the Times of Oman.
