Zoomlion has sold 47 ZRT850 rough-terrain cranes worth nearly RMB100 million ($14.11 million) to a client in the Middle East, highlighting yet again the strength and international influence of ‘Made-in-China’ products.
According to Lu Yangchen, director of Zoomlion Construction Crane Research Institute, the ZRT850 is a combination of 4.0 mobile crane’s upper part and the chassis of a rough-terrain-crane. It offers exceptional performance, robust power and flexible operations.
The 80-tonne rough-terrain crane was developed by Zoomlion for oilfield projects. It underwent the strictest 4,200 hoisting tests and experiments in extreme working conditions to ensure its excellent quality and powerful performance.
Yangchen says its production and operation costs have been substantially reduced, thanks to its modular and general design.
The ZRT850 is equipped with a five-section U-shaped main boom and two trussed fly jibs. The main boom has a maximum lifting height of 49.8 m while the fly jibs have 67.1 m maximum lifting height.
The maximum rated hoisting ability is 85 tonnes. Its long and mid-arm hoisting performance is among the best in the world, he says.
In addition, ZRT850 has the super-powerful capability of loaded driving, with the maximum weight of loaded driving reaching 28 tonnes, according to He Xinwei, product manager of Zoomlion Mobile Crane Branch Company. The product provides 8.8 tonnes counterweight as standard configuration and also offers 10.5 tonnes optional counterweight to expand the hoisting ability.
Commenting on the ZRT850, Xinwei says: “When developing products for overseas markets, we give great emphasis on localisation. To cater to the special working environment and requirements in the oilfields, our research and development (R&D) team has enhanced the designs of ZRT850 so that the product is more reliable and stable with better heat radiation performance.”
At the same time, he says, to adapt to all extreme working conditions and improve the terrain performance, ZRT850 uses the special heavy-load chassis, large-ball wide-rail slewing bearing and four-wheel drive.
Equipped with a fully hydraulic steering system, it has multiple turning models such as front/rear-wheel turning, four-wheel turning and crab motion, enabling it to drive on muddy and bumpy roads and operate in narrow zones and deserts. Besides, the leading BUS control system and light and sound alarm for failure and danger ensures the safety of operation on a real-time basis.
The rough-terrain cranes, featuring high mobility, flexibility and loaded driving, can be used extensively in hoisting operations and installation projects in oilfields, chemicals industry, mines, ports and wharfs, and construction sites, in particular on complex terrain surfaces.
The ZRT850 has passed certifications such as ANSI in North America, CE in EU and EAC of the Customs Union, which enable it to enter major markets in Europe, America and the Middle East. Besides, it is the sole rough-terrain crane of China that has gained the green mark of access to working sites of Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Company (Satorp).
The ZRT850 has received extensive attention from clients in the Middle East, thanks to its powerful performance and high cost-effectiveness. It was exhibited in Bauma 2019, the leading construction equipment show held in Munich, Germany, in April, where the Middle East client had initially shown keen interest to purchase the crane. “They decided to purchase it after making detailed comparisons and a holistic study,” Yangchen says.
The ZRT850 is popular in Europe, North America and other developed markets.
Zoomlion has maintained a leadership position in the industry. In 2009, Zoomlion launched China’s first 55-tonne rough-terrain crane.
“Nowadays, our rough-terrain cranes are sold to South East Asia and the Middle East, demonstrating their wonderful performance in the overseas market. I am convinced that with the exceptional product quality and powerful performance, Zoomlion will continue to enhance its brand influence and increase its market share,” says Liu Yuxin, the deputy general manager of Zoomlion Mobile Crane Branch Company.
