Turkey-based Elkon, a leader in concrete batching plants, said it has received an order from US construction technology firm Katerra for the supply of five concrete plants for a giant project consisting of 4,101 family houses in Saudi Arabia.
Katerra is a technology-oriented off-site construction company from the Silicon Valley with operations in the US and India.
The company signed an agreement in the presence of Saudi Arabian Minister of Housing Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail to build 4,101 houses for the Ministry of Housing as part of Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030.
Within the scope of the project, 2,482 houses will be built in Makkah and 1,043 houses will be built in Madinah. In addition, 140, 191 and 245 houses will be built in Al Baha, Al Jouf and Qassim respectively.
Katerra has ordered four units of the Elkomix-90 Quick Master compact concrete batching plant – each equipped with the 2250/1500 l twinshaft mixer – and one unit of the Elkomix-120 Quick Master compact concrete batching plant equipped with the 3375/2250 l twinshaft mixer be installed in different cities.
The plants in Elkon’s ‘Quick Master compact concrete batching plant’ family can be installed and dismantled very quickly, can be easily transported between construction sites and installed on a flat concrete surface without requiring any special concrete foundation, said Elkon.
Each concrete batching plant has a shuttle-type automatic aggregate pre-feeding system for loading aggregates without concrete loading ramps. Also, there are five water-cooling chiller units in the five concrete plants in order to enable the production of high-quality concrete even in hot weather conditions of Saudi Arabia.
