Samsung Engineering, one of the world’s leading engineering, procurement, construction and project management (EPC&PM) companies, has been awarded a $1.85-billion contract by Saudi oil giant Aramco for its Hawiyah Unayzah Gas Reservoir Storage (HUGRS) project. The contract was signed on January 23.






The Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation (Apicorp) has signed two agreements with sustainable energy company Yellow Door Energy (YDE) to install solar panels and energy-efficient retrofitting at its headquarters in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.






Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has launched a programme to commission a further round of new independent sewage treatment plants (ISTPs) and has invited expressions of interest (EOIs) for the development of three new ISTPs at Buraydah, Tabuk and Madinah. The Buraydah 2 ISTP will have a total treatment capacity of 150,000 cu m per day.






Turkey-based Elkon, a leader in concrete batching plants, said it has received an order from US construction technology firm Katerra for the supply of five concrete plants for a giant project consisting of 4,101 family houses in Saudi Arabia.






Saudi Arabia’s $500-billion city Neom has signed an agreement with the UK-based Solar Water Limited for the construction of the first desalination plant with ‘Solar Dome’ technology in the futuristic new city.






Saudi Arabia has issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) for Round Three of the kingdom’s National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), which comprises four solar photovoltaic (PV) projects with a combined generation capacity of 1,200 MW. The programme aims to boost solar power generation capacity in the kingdom.






Veolia, a global leader in optimised resource management, and the Royal Commission for Jubail via its investment arm JYIC, have started work for the development of a central utilities and waste valorisation plant in the PlasChem Park of Jubail Industrial City.
