Mitsubishi adds new low level pickers

01 December 2002

Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks has added a new series of low level order pickers to its award-winning range of warehouse equipment. Designed for first and second level operations, the line up comprises three separate models: the OPBL10K, OPBL10KF and OPBL10KV.

Detailing the features of the models, a company spokesman says: "Regenerative braking - which extends shift length by recycling current back to the battery, and reduces component wear - is a standard feature on all OPBL models. So too are rapid-access, roll out batteries for convenient charging and change-over. Importantly for safe and swift operation in confined areas, the chassis is the same width as a standard Euro pallet allowing trucks to pass each other in warehouse aisles.

"The most basic model, the OPBL10K, can be used in either stand-on or pedestrian mode. The operator's platform can be lifted and lowered smoothly by a mini-lever on the operator's dashboard.

"Moreover, Mitsubishi has installed an end-positioning damper that allows operators to raise themselves to a maximum height of 1,150 mm in complete safety. To ensure easy operation as a pedestrian truck, the picker features driving and lifting buttons on both sides, making it extremely driver-friendly. Highly manoeuvrable - thanks to a very tight turning radius of just 1,500 mm - the truck is fitted with a 360-degree steering wheel, ensuring optimum handling for the driver.

"The OPBL10KF has an additional lift facility which allows the forks to raise the load an extra 750 mm. This enables the pallet to be brought up to a picking height most convenient to the operator. The result is enhanced ergonomics for easier handling and greater productivity.

"The OPBL10KV is similar to the OPBL10K, but features an adjustable fork width. This means that the operator can shift the forks into the correct position for a variety of different pallets. This significantly improves the productivity of the operator who can easily pick different pallet sizes and picking cages.

"Particularly suited to medium-duty operation with up to 50 m travel, the OPBL series is one more example of the high specification and robust construction that is winning so many converts to the Mitsubishi range of warehouse equipment," he says.

This year, Mitsubishi won the environment award for its RB-K reach truck in the Fork Lift Truck Association's 2002 awards for excellence, held annually in Birmingham, UK. This is the company's fourth award, a record without equal in the industry, according to the spokesman.
