OYL Middle East recently launched in the UAE a rooftop air conditioning system, manufactured by its parent company OYL Manufacturing Company of Malaysia. The Dubai-based firm is the regional office of the OYL Manufacturing, which manufactures a wide range of air-conditioners under the Acson brand name, as well as refrigerators and freezers.
The Acson Rooftop Package Unit eases operation since the whole air conditioning system is located outside the conditioned space. The air delivered through the ducts, thus facilitating easy maintenance and thorough cleaning of the air filters, evaporator and condenser coils. Coupled with the ease of providing fresh air intake, it also addresses the issue of indoor air quality. The system can be further enhanced with the integration of volume control dampers, economisers, zone control systems and BMS (building management system) networking.
Regional manager Sharanath Shetty comments: 'Since the unit stays outside or on the rooftop, there is minimum disturbance to occupants as the servicing and maintenance of the system can be done without entering the villa, thus respecting the local customs and traditions of this region.'
Ranging from five to 25 tonnes capacity, the Acson Rooftop Package Unit boasts high efficiency, reliability and quiet operation. The package unit is designed to operate at low noise levels by providing separated and insulated compressor compartments.
'Our rooftop unit is designed with high efficiency and reliable scroll compressors. As the design is one single unit configuration, all refrigerant work at site can be eliminated, ensuring expedited installation time and minimal labour involvement. Moreover, the refrigerant is factory-charged and tested to ensure clean and efficient operation,' says Shetty.
The Acson Rooftop Package Unit is equipped with the flexibility of horizontal side throw and vertical down throw. The changing of throw type can be achieved by easily switching the indoor fan and the panels, which allows for maximum flexibility in installation.
The unit uses a belt-driven indoor fan, which allows the air volume and static required to be adjusted according to the requirement, allowing for wider application. Moreover, the unit's small footprint and flat top design allows for minimum space requirement and maximum utilisation of warehouse space for storage and container space for shipping.
These units are supplied as standard with a microprocessor-controlled remote controller thermostat, which includes a seven-day programmable weekly timer, compressor anti-short cycle timer (three minutes), multi-stage sequential compressor operation, fault diagnostics, room temperature indicator, temperature 'F' or 'C' selectable and with cool/fan/auto mode/high/low fan speed selector.
The regional office in Dubai covers the entire Middle East. The Rooftop Package Unit has been supplied to Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan.
In the UAE, these units are used in Shaikh Salem Mosque in Sharjah, the Sharjah Women's Club and Capital Tower site offices in Dubai.
In Kuwait, these units are supplied to the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Defence and Public Works Department.
The whole range of Acson Rooftop Package Units are available in cooling models and with a heat-pump. The range is also available with the ozone-friendly CFC (chlorofluorocarbons)-free R-407C refrigerant.
Future plans include extending the range of air conditioners with new features.
The Acson range includes window air conditioners and split units including wall mounted, ceiling exposed, ceiling/floor convertible, ceiling cassette type, ceiling concealed and ducted types, multi split systems, chilled water fan coils, air-cooled mini chillers, floor standing types, air-cooled rooftop packages, water-cooled packaged units, small tonnage modular, air-cooled package liquid chillers and air handling units.
