Samsung introduces new AC concept

01 July 2003

Samsung Electronics has applied digital technology to develop a completely new air conditioner concept, according to Techno Blue Trading Company, Samsung's representative in Bahrain.

Developed with UTR technology, the new product is designed for use in the Middle East. The product is said to have undergone more than a year of clinical trials and has been certified by leading agencies. It provides optimal indoor cooling - even at 54 deg C and higher and also boasts rugged durability under all conditions, according to a spokesman for Techno Blue Trading Company.

Experts have praised Samsung's technological ability to produce an effective air conditioning system suitable for the Middle East and other regions of extreme heat,' he says. Radhi Al Asafra, chief engineer at Saso, a top agency in air conditioner inspection, was quoted as saying that its power surpasses all expectations: 'Our test results have proved that Samsung's technological expertise has managed to overcome all the problems plaguing compressor-cooling operation. Samsung's newly developed UTR compressor is equipped with a high-torque motor that can operate under heavy loads,' the spokesman explains. 'The motor has also been redesigned to start-up even at a low voltage.

An overload protector in the motor suppresses internal heat build-up and helps prevent damage, while fuzzy logic maintains optimal indoor temperature. A special coating and a new welding method ensures longer life for the compressor. A UTR compressor performance test conducted by the Centre for Environmental Energy Engineering (CEEE) in the US determined that its energy efficiency ratio was 10 per cent higher than that for conventional reciprocating compressors,' he points out. 'A Samsung 18,000 BTU UTR air conditioner would thus outperform a 20,000 BTU model made by other companies. Techno Blue is a division of the Al Hawaj Group of companies.
