Hilti's new demolition tools come equipped with a new power system that is claimed to boost the output of the saw by up to 350 per cent.

Hilti has launched a new high-performance reciprocating saw which boasts the advantages of top performance, perfect handling and long life, according to Milos Hrabek, market segment manager at the Hilti Regional office in Dubai.
The Hilti WSR 1400-PE is an ideal tool for demolition work in masonry and for the toughest cutting jobs in metal, plastic and wood. What makes it the best reciprocating saw on the market is the Smart Power system, which can boost the power output of the saw by up to 350 per cent, he points out.
“For everyday construction site work, this means consistently high performance even when faced with the toughest cutting jobs,” Hrabek explains. “When cutting hard materials, with applied high pressure, the performance of conventional saws drop rapidly.
With Smart Power, however, intelligent sensors regulate the 1,400 W motor power according to the material being cut and the pressure applied. When it senses that more power is needed it increases output automatically – to a maximum of 2,000 W to execute the most difficult of jobs.
“When pressure on the saw is lower, the intelligent sensors still ensure constant motor power. “
The new reciprocating saw not only maintains the optimum cutting speed, but the power control system reduces the heat produced by the motor, with a correspondingly significant reduction of stress on important parts. “This makes the Hilti reciprocating saws with Smart Power among the longest-lasting tools of their kind and have been specially been designed for use by professionals in the construction industry,” he says.
Perfect handling
Robustly built to ensure long life and incorporating well-proven motor technology for maximum performance, the new saw optimally meets two of the most important demands on a tool of this kind, he says.
“But that’s not all! Thanks to the perfect ergonomic design and superb handling characteristics – including its unique D-grip which provides a secure hold for optimum guidance in all working directions – these new saws deliver the best performance during long periods of use,” Hrabek continues.
Lower vibration
With Hilti’s anti-vibration system and rubber-padded grips, vibration of the new tool is much lower than with conventional reciprocating saws.
“The WSR 1400-PE features an innovation adopted from the legendary Hilti breakers – for optimum control of its exceptionally high power and performance,” he adds. “Like the TE 905 breaker, Hilti’s top-of-the-range reciprocating saw is equipped with an Active Vibration Reduction (AVR) system and can be fitted with a side handle, when required. The resulting significantly lower level of vibration even has a cost-saving effect as less vibration means less fatigue when working with the saw for long periods and a corresponding rise in daily productivity.”
Although each Hilti reciprocating saw has been specially developed for a different field of applications, they all have several things in common. Each model features orbital action for fast cutting in wood and soft materials.
Thanks to a keyless system, blades can be changed or reversed for special jobs or for working overhead in a matter of seconds. Likewise, no tools are required for adjusting the contact shoe for better access in tight corners and to permit optimum use of blade length. All Hilti reciprocating saws, with the exception of the WSR 650-A, come with a 5-m supply cord for maximum mobility and efficiency, Hrabek says.
To ensure best possible use of the extra power offered by these saws, Hilti has extended its range of top-grade, long-life saw blades for all kinds of applications, providing maximum cutting performance at depths of up to 320 mm while achieving exceptionally long life, he concludes.
