FloodMaster sensors to protect Mideast homes

01 May 2005

FloodMaster of the US has recently launched in the Middle East a new product that has already proved to be the most popular leakage prevention system in the US.

Hundreds of thousands of people have already changed their old water heater system to the new technology which saves them money and prevents any damage to their properties, says a spokesman for the company.
Insurance companies and construction consultants have already added the new system on their tender applications, he adds. This system has been patented in the US and is widely distributed.
“FloodMaster has already established markets in the US and is looking towards the rapidly expanding markets of the Middle East,” he comments.
With the corrosive climate of the region being especially harsh on water heaters and many of them failing much before the expected lifespan, the installation of the device could help secure the assets of the homeowners, he says.
Statistics show that when water heaters fail due to end-of-life, property may suffer a water heater shutdown, a leak, a flood or a continuous flow of water from its cold water-intake through a hole in the water heater into the premises. Failures of water heaters may cause up to $5,000 (or more) in damage to homeowners’ premises and possessions. Therefore FloodMaster takes care of the unit irrespective of whether the residents are at home or not,  he adds.
The new system is powered by 220-240V AC mains to suit the requirements of consumers in the Middle East.
“Basically, the system disables the cold water supply to the hot water heater when leakage is sensed,” the spokesman points out. “The FloodMaster control valve detects leaks in water heaters and pressure relief valves. When such a leak is detected, the FloodMaster unit automatically shuts off the cold water input to the water heater, stopping the leak and protecting the premises and contents.
“The absence of water in the home alerts the residents that the system has been activated and is protecting the home from potential flooding. Once the system is activated, it must be manually reset to allow water to refill the heater. This feature ensures that the hot water heater will be inspected for the source of water leakage prior to the reactivation of the cold-water fill.
“The FloodMaster system monitors the hot water heater or a similar feed water system every hour, every day giving residents peace of mind.”
FloodMaster is keen to market and promote the product in the Middle East and has invited all importers, architects, manufactures and contractors to take advantage of this special  invention.
