The eighth Caterpillar Operator Challenge to be held in Malaga Spain later this October, will see the UAE Champion – Ghulam Fareed of Al Marwan General Contracting Company – meet with nearly 70 winners from 30 countries in a closely-fought contest.
As part of the regional rounds, Mohamed Abdulrahman Al-Bahar held its second annual Operators Challenge late last month, to select the best Cat earthmoving equipment operator from the UAE.

The event organised under the name Operator’s Challenge 2005 was conducted at the Al-Bahar facility in Sharjah for nominated operators from contracting companies and individual groups. In the preliminary rounds, a total of 50 equipment operators took three tough tests on Cat equipment 424D backhoe loader, 318C excavator and 226B skid steer loader, that required precision and skill in using different equipment. In the final round, the 10 finalists displayed their material handling skill on a Cat 360B telehandler.
The annual event brings together construction equipment operators from different backgrounds and specialties into a standardised contest that measures operator skill.
Organised by Caterpillar for Cat equipment operators, the contest will see top machine operators winning the regional competition from Cat dealerships in Europe and the Middle East compete for the highly-prized title.
