The recently concluded technical seminar of LG Electronics (LGE), held at Fairmont Hotel (Dubai) and Millennium Hotel (Sharjah) last month, discussed among other issues, the company’s ability to adapt to newer technology, its sales growth and also its plans for the region.
CH Lee, Gulf manager, said that the company had achieved a unique distinction by posting an annual sale of 10 million units for the first time in the world and maintaining its Number One status for five consecutive years.
“LGE, which sold more than 10 million units in 2004, taking about 20 per cent of the 52-million-unit world market, is also planning to open up a new LG Academy in Qatar,” he said.
LG central air-conditioners – ranked one of the best three main suppliers in the UAE – is represented in the markets of Dubai and the Northern Emirates by Fortune International.

New launch
LG has recently introduced the new MPS (multi power system), and the MPS Space, which is one of the effective solutions to cool in very tight places and in hi-rise buildings. This technology, which combines multiple compressors in a single air-conditioning system, reduces the energy consumption of the air-conditioning system by up to 70 per cent compared to conventional air-conditioners with one compressor, claims a spokesman for the company.
It also reduces the noise and vibration of air-conditioners. By adopting multiple small-capacity compressors, the system runs more quietly than air-conditioners with one large compressor even when both compressors are operating. Its optimised piping design and low noise fans in the Multi Power System also help minimise noise and vibration, says the spokesman.
Since the system is split with one outdoor and multi indoors, electric power saving is the main result for this feature. The other benefits being:
• Space saving for outdoor locations;
• Digital control is a standard feature in LG products and will be reflected in the level of control accuracy and power saving as well;
• Internet and BMS control is enabled.
