Schnell looks to boost market share

01 March 2006

Italian rebar processing equipment specialist Schnell, which also claims to have been the first company to supply rebar processing equipment to Dubai, says it is looking forward to enhancing its share in the fast growing markets of the region through the supply of efficient and user-friendly rebar processing equipment.

One of the major projects that the company has been involved in recent years is the Dubai International Airport (DIA) expansion project, where it supplied all the machines necessary to complete the piling for the production of the cages for a total of 8,500 reinforced concrete foundation piles. The company has worked with several other projects in the region ever since.
The company’s special production software – Graphico Optimo (GO) and the fabrication equipment Bar-wiser – have helped developers and contractors in the regionmeet tight deadlines while offering them the benefits of high productivity and flexibility, for machining reinforcement bars.
Says a spokesman for the Italian company: “Bar-wiser cuts and bends bars of any shape (also those with bends at both ends) and deposits them on a carriage divided into many compartments.
“The biggest advantage of using the Bar-wiser is that when the machining cycle has been completed, there are eight to 10 elements ready on the carriage, complete with all the straight and bent bars: all that remains to be done is to free the carriage and start another cycle,” he says.
“Bar-wiser is also available with the exclusive automatic bar loader Genius, which eliminates the operator’s job of loading the bars, providing an unbeatable combination in flexibility and productivity for every shaping centre dedicated to the housing sector.
Schnell says that the combination allows the easy preparation of assembly kit containing straight or bent bars to assemble a certain reinforcing structure (beams and pillars).
An established name in the UAE since 1993 – when it had supplied the first cutting and bending plant – the company has grown from strength to strength and has been associated with some of the larger projects in the region. Schnell has been offering a range of services to its customers including custom designing the most appropriate rebar processing layout to maximise productivity and minimise scrap keeping in mind the competitive market scenario in the region.
“The fact that the company has one of the largest range of rebar processing equipment – including shearlines, double-headed automatic bending systems, state-of-the-art coil processing machines and the most advanced cage making machines – gives it the backing to process foundation cages and pre-assembled structures of any size that will facilitate reinforcement fixing,” says a spokesman for the company.
“Through the years, Schnell has gained a good reputation not only for the quality of its machines but also for after-sales service with prompt and competent response to the requests of its customers,” the spokesman points out.
Schnell is a group of eight companies with 250 employees worldwide. With a long operational history starting from 1962, the company has accumulated a wealth of experience which spans over 40 years, delivering machinery and equipment far and wide across the globe.
The first rebar cutting and bending machines were manufactured after the Second World War, making it easier to process this vital element which stands at the core of any reinforced concrete structure and cannot be devised from the outside once the building is complete.
The company is looking forward to extensively service its clients in the Gulf region and is determine to further expand its business not only in the booming Gulf region but also across the Middle East region, the spokesman concludes.
