1,500 line up for Iraq fair

01 April 2007

AS MANY as 1,500 companies from more than 30 countries, mostly European, are expected to take part in the second Iraq International Fair to be held next month in Gaziantep, Turkey.

The first fair held in June last year was a success, attracting as many as 1,023 firms – including 732 local and 291 foreign companies, “ says a spokesman for Forum Fairs and Promotions Company. “The fair also attracted 65,000 visitors, 7,000 of whom were foreigners, mostly from Iraq.”
“Iraq, with its international partners, is likely to pursue various approaches to reconstruction over the next few years depending on such factors as efficient commercial relationships with the neighbouring countries and evaluating the resources available” he adds.
This year’s show will be held from May 23 to 27 at the Gaziantep Middle East Fairground, and the organisers predict that exhibitors will do brisk business, as the city is the closest overseas production and procurement centre to Iraq.
