With over 200,000 visitors in attendance, BAU 2007 proved an invaluable showcase and meeting point for Saudi Arabia’s Zamil Steel, which was among the 2,000-odd exhibitors at the building materials fair held in Munich, Germany.
The largest bi-annual event of its kind, BAU 2007 was held over six days in January and was hailed a success by exhibitors and visitors alike, with more than 206,000 visitors in attendance, 36,000 alone from countries outside Europe.
“The mood was upbeat and everyone was eager to learn about new products and technologies, initiate new business relationships and revitalise old ones,” says Zamil Steel PEB division marketing manager Hatem Turki.
He continues: “Adding to the enthusiasm was the optimism about the state of the building industry. Survey figures demonstrated a sea change in expectations from the previous event, with 86 per cent of those surveyed perceiving conditions as ‘excellent to good’, up from 38 per cent in 2005.
“The increased attendance indicated new participants from a steadily increasing number of countries – 143 at this year’s event. More visitors and exhibitors than ever before came from the Middle East, East Asia and South/Southeast Europe.
Zamil Steel’s participation allowed the company to show its wide range of steel products and solutions, present its portfolio of international projects, and exchange industry trends and expertise with professionals from the international industry.
“We were extremely satisfied with the number of visitors greeted and partnership opportunities initiated. We look forward to BAU 2009 as well as the interim period of success and innovation across the entire building industry,” adds Turki.
