01 December 2007

The fourth edition of the SteelFab exhibition – which will be held at Expo Centre, Sharjah from January 21 to 23, next year – is expected to feature more than 100 exhibitors displaying over 400 brands from more than 25 countries.

"SteelFab 2008 will be significantly bigger in size in terms of number of exhibitors, occupied exhibition space as well as exhibit profile. In fact, the occupied exhibition space at the 2008 edition will be almost double that of the last edition,” said Fasahat Ali Khan, adviser to the chairman and board of directors of Expo Centre Sharjah.
The event, considered to be the Middle East's largest display for the steel-working industry, will occupy an exhibition area of 15,000 sq m and host exhibitors from Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan (ROC), Turkey, the UAE, the UK and the US, among others, says the spokesman.
The exhibition will highlight machinery, equipment, products, services, and consumables related to surface preparation, blasting, galvanising, finishing and painting; steel machinery including metal forming, machine tools, and workshop machinery; grinding, cutting and power tools; tools, tooling for machinery; pipe construction equipment, tools, and orbital welding; software, services and training; testing, measurement, and NDT; welding and cutting including welding machines, consumables and specialty welding; cutting systems including CNC – plasma, oxy fuel, laser, and water jet; and material handling solutions.
SteelFab 2008 will showcase about 100 brands of steel machinery including more than 75 brands dedicated to welding and cutting, and more than 50 brands related to surface preparation and finishing. Other important sectors will be pipe construction, CNC cutting systems and grinding and cutting abrasives.
The 2008 edition of the SteelFab exhibition will feature several key attractions for the regional steel-working sector. Among them will be a dedicated hall for sheet metal manufacturing solutions that will include air-conditioning duct manufacturing lines, Turret Punch Presses, cut-to-length and slit-to-length lines, coil handling machinery, and roll-forming machines.
The live demonstrations of welding and CNC cutting on the sidelines are also bound to attract considerable attention as are the concurrent product presentations, seminars, and the forums with specific focus on the Middle East, says the organiser.
Another major highlight of next year's SteelFab will be a dedicated pavilion from Bavaria, Germany that will be set up in association with Bayern International.
SteelFab 2008 will be co-locating with the debut edition of SteelTech exhibition – a trade fair for the growing steel production industry in the Middle East. SteelTech will feature a complete range of technology, equipment and products for the Middle East-based steel production sector including steel producers, rolling mills, tube and pipe manufacturers, wire manufacturers, steel processors, and rebar manufacturers.
A major attraction of the SteelTech exhibition will be the Gulf Iron and Steel Conference – that will be held alongside the show – which will focus on the regional iron and steel sector and will be addressed by key players in the industry from across the globe. Among the participants at the event will be top decision-makers from the regional iron and steel sector as well as technology providers, equipment manufacturers, and raw material suppliers to the industry.
“The last three editions of SteelFab had received an overwhelming response from the Middle East steel-working sector,” says Saif Al Midfa, director general of Expo Centre Sharjah, adding that he was expecting a 15 to 20 per cent increase in visitor turnout at the coming edition of SteelFab. The last edition of SteelFab had attracted 5,797 visitors of which 69 per cent were from the GCC region. This exhibition is an initiative of Expo Centre Sharjah with the support of UCIMU – the Italian Association of Machinery Manufacturers, MIB – the Association of Turkish Machinery Manufacturers, and the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
