SLOVAKIAN saw milling company PRP will showcase its high-quality white wood at this year’s Saudi Build, using the expo as a launch pad to enter new markets in the region.
The second largest saw milling company in Slovakia aims to promote white wood in various dimensions, besides prisms, battens, planks, wooden facing materials, medium density fibreboard (MDF) and oriented strand board (OSB). Special wooden facings will be in the spotlight in the line-up.
“We are planning to target new markets with some interesting and high-quality products,” Slavomir Dyma, managing director, says. “We offer timber with a wide range of lengths, thicknesses and widths. All the materials are well-dried and have the latest certification.”
PRP is a producer of white wood, spruce timber used in construction, wooden beams, battens, prisms and wooden facings materials.
At the show, the company will exhibit white wood in the following dimensions: 23 mm by 48 mm by 4 m, 23 mm by 96 mm by 4 m, 23 mm by 245 mm by 4 m, 23 mm by 295 mm by 4 m, 48 mm by 48 mm by 4 m, 48 mm by 72 mm by 4 m, 48 mm by 96 mm by 4 m, 48 mm by 145 mm by 4 m, 48 mm by 195 mm by 4 m, 48 mm by 295 mm by 4 m, 70 mm by 70 mm by 4 m, and 96 mm by 96 mm by 4 m.
“Besides this, we can also produce wood in a wide variety of other individual dimensions in lengths of 3 m to 8 m,” Dyma says.
Though PRP will be making a maiden appearance at Saudi Build, it had participated at gulfBID 2009, a building and interiors exhibition held in Bahrain last May, which has paved the way for negotiations for key business deals.
PRP, which was on the look out for agencies for its high-quality timber products, reported wide interest in its products at gulfBID and has been in negotiations with a number of trading firms since the exhibition.
“Our wood products are very competitive and of the same or even better quality as Austrian wood, which is popular in the region. In addition, we are able to meet the price requirements of the region,” says Roman Reh, adviser of export director for PRP.
It is now looking forward to establish new associations in Saudi Arabia and hopes to be part of more such exhibitions.
“The strong Saudi market will support PRP’s aim to reach out to the GCC customer,” Dyma says.
With a turnover of $23 million, PRP was established in 1994 and today has 140 employees involved in operations located in the main production facility in Velky Krtis and in the town of Lucenec.
Having established a strong presence in central Europe, PRP started delivering white wood to Cyprus and the Gulf last year.
Recent developments at the company include acquiring new markets outside of Europe and introduction of new techniques in production. For instance, PRP has launched a sawing line for logs from 3 m to 8 m in length, with Teletwin and Quad circular saws, edger, trimmer for finished products, boards sorting line and rollers bed sorting line for construction timber.
“With this, our production capacity has expanded to 200,000 cu m of processed logs,” Dyma says, adding, “We also introduced new drying capacities in both production plants.”
PRP plans to expand its production capacity in areas such as structural timber (glued elements), roof trusses production, new wooden facing materials and establish new production lines.
PRP’s stand at the expo is located in Hall 5.
