SENIOR government officials from the UAE, Egypt, Qatar and Saudi Arabia will meet in Abu Dhabi, UAE, next year to discuss some of the region’s most ambitious infrastructure projects at the second annual Tunnels and Underground Construction Middle East summit.
Among the developments in the spotlight will be Abu Dhabi’s Al Salam Street project, which is nearing completion and its metro project – one of the largest of its kind – which is soon to come online. The presentation will be made by Abdullah S Al Shamsi, executive director of municipal infrastructure and assets sector, Abu Dhabi Municipality. He will represent the municipality as patrons of the summit for the second consecutive year.
For the first time, the event will also be held with the full support of the International Tunnelling Association, making it the only dedicated event for the tunnelling industry in the region that is supported by the local government as well as by the international community. The summit, which will take place between the May 13 and 16, is sponsored by MTS Perforator Tunnelling systems.
