Alfanar commissions Hail plant units

01 August 2012

ALFANAR Construction has successfully commissioned the first two gas turbine (GT) units of Saudi Electricity Company’s (SEC) Hail-Two power plant’s Extension-Three project six weeks ahead of schedule.

The units were energised in the presence of SEC executive president Ali Saleh AlBarrak, who was accompanied by Saleh Al Sehaibani, vice-president for engineering and projects and Fuad Al Shuraibi, vice-president for generation, O&M.

The SEC delegation expressed their appreciation for the early energisation of the plant, which would enable the company to meet the growing demands for reliable power across the Hail district, by adding approximately 400 MW to the grid of the region that is characterised by a steady growth of industrial projects and   urban expansion.

Abdullah Al Hamad, construction division manager of Alfanar, said: “The completion of these units ahead of schedule is the result of  well co-ordinated hard work between the teams of Alfanar and SEC in addition to the decades of experience gained in the areas of construction, manufacturing, testing and commissioning of the generation and transmission projects. Last year, the Hail-Two Extension-Two project consisting of units Seven and Eight were also completed in a record period of 12 months, reinstating the position of Alfanar as a trusted fast-track deliverer of critical power projects.”
