DANUBE, a leading building materials company in the region, has opened its second showroom in Qatar to meet the overwhelming demand created by the country’s booming economy.
The new full-fledged showroom is spread across 5,000 sq ft at Suq Najma (Haraj) in Doha catering to the ongoing and upcoming infrastructure development projects in the country.
Danube’s first showroom complex in Qatar measures 100,000 sq ft and comprises a showroom and adjoining warehouse. Located at the heart of Doha’s industrial area, it offers key products like wood, steel, sanitary hardware, ceilings, plywood and structural steel.
“The showroom generates huge traffic from customers in the industrial areas. However, to accommodate the overwhelming demand of the customers in the retail area, we opened a new commercial place to showcase our ever-expanding product line,” says Rizwan Sajan, founder and chairman of Danube Group.
With the launch of the new showroom in the retail area, designers, carpenters and contractors will now be able to view the extensive range of melamine, MDF (medium density fibreboard), wood, timber, structure steel, ceiling, gypsum boards, sanitary hardware, aluminium cladding, ceramic tiles and fire-retardant products in a convenient location, he says.
Sajan says the country’s booming economy is what prompted him to open Danube’s second showroom in Qatar. With Qatar hosting the 2022 Fifa World Cup along with the development of transport and educational infrastructure, the country’s construction industry is highly buoyant, he says.
“The Fifa event has accelerated the infrastructure spending programme which will serve as a boost to the construction industry, making Qatar one of the most active construction markets in the Middle East within the next five years. With major budgets planned for projects including the transport, tourism, health and housing sector, the demand for the construction and building material products has increased, serving as a boost for local traders,” Sajan says.
Additionally, Business Monitor Index (BMI) has forecast a 9.5 per cent year-on-year growth for the country with construction and energy projects estimated to be worth $150 billion in the pipeline, which are being implemented to support Qatar National Vision 2030.
“Qatar’s construction market has always been regarded as a safe haven for the region’s investors,” Sajan adds.
He says that the Qatar market has been a key driver for his company’s business growth, adding that the company will continue to explore the untapped areas in the nation and extend its presence countrywide.
“For Danube, diversification has remained the key to achieving sustainable growth. As an organisation, Danube has extended its presence across various geographies and to continue the momentum we will explore the untapped markets in the region soon,” he says.
For Danube, 2012 was a year of achievements and rewards as the company recorded an exponential growth in sales and expanded its presence in the region with new showrooms in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kenya and Libya.
