SARAYA Bandar Jissah, Oman’s latest integrated tourism complex (ITC), broke ground on the second major construction phase of the project, following the completion of site preparatory works.
Taking shape on the outskirts of the capital Muscat, the $600-million project will be built over an area of 2.2 million sq m on a secluded beach surrounded by the Hajjar mountains.
Work on the first phase, which entailed shaping the ground at site as per the masterplan and site preparation works, was completed last October. The second phase involves the infrastructure package, including the laying of all utilities such as power, communications, sewage, water, roads and lighting throughout the site.
The project will be home to two beachfront five-star hotels operated by internationally renowned luxury hotels and resorts operator Jumeirah Group, in addition to exclusive residential units and a recreational area.
Being developed in partnership between Oman’s tourism development and investment arm, Omran, and Saraya Oman, the first phase of Saraya Bandar Jissah is scheduled to be completed in 2017, delivering both Jumeirah hotels, the recreational facilities and residential neighbourhoods.
