WITH the recent launch of three new, top-of-the-range truck models in the Middle East, Volvo Trucks is looking forward to a year of growth with a projected 20 per cent increase on deliveries across the region in 2014.
The three new models are set to make a significant contribution to the company’s overall performance in the region this year, following a successful first quarter during which a 13 per cent increase in forecasted deliveries was recorded across Volvo’s 13 active Middle Eastern markets.
The Swedish truck manufacturer unveiled its new FH, FM and FMX models in Abu Dhabi in January in the biggest truck launch ever held in the region.
Together with the brand’s on-going best-seller, the FH, the new models are said to feature the most advanced safety, efficient and performance-oriented features currently available in the global truck market.
In particular, Volvo Trucks’ dedicated construction model, the FMX, is tipped to help the brand dominate the construction segment with a robust exterior and revolutionary new design features built for operating in the toughest working conditions.
Lars-Erik Forsbergh, president of Volvo Trucks for the Middle East, said: “The ongoing development of the Middle East truck market makes it a key focus for Volvo Trucks, and we intend to build on this great start to the year to reach our goals. The new FH, FM and FMX models will help us to do that as they offer the highest possible standards of reliability, handling, time-saving features, fuel-efficiency, safety and driver comfort to our Middle East customers.
“This new range of trucks is the most advanced the world has seen, and has allowed us to introduce an assortment of innovative features to the market, all with a clear purpose: to help improve truck productivity and durability, and consequently customer profitability, while making life safer and more enjoyable for the driver.”
The new range features a totally redesigned cab, both inside and out, with improved seating position, increased usable window area and an innovative rear-view mirror design.
Ground-breaking features include Volvo dynamic steering, which delivers exceptional handling, very similar to a car, in all operating conditions, as well as intelligent I-Shift gearbox technology and the option of having the air suspension in addition to the traditional mechanical one.
