A JOINT venture of QVDC and Bin Omran Trading and Contracting has been awarded Phase Two works of a key motorway on the outskirts of Doha, Qatar.
The $1.4-billion deal for the New Orbital Highway project covers the design and construction of 47 km of motorways, six viaducts, 17 bridges and underpasses and a 320-m cut-and-cover tunnel. This motorway section will have a five-lane dual carriageway for light vehicles and two truck lanes in each direction.
Work on the project is set to begin this month (May) and is expected to be completed in 36 months. The new highway, which will be nearly 200-km long, will connect the new port of the Qatari capital with Ras Laffan, the gas-producing industrial city in the north of the country. The highway will bypass Doha.
QDVC, a Qatari subsidiary of Qatari Diar and Vinci Construction Grands Projects, is working on the southern package of the Doha metro’s red line and the Sheraton underground car-park in the heart of the West Bay business district.
