DUBAI is expected to be home to the world’s largest sustainable underwater tourism site that has been designed by Reef Worlds, a Los Angeles-based reef developer.
Reef Worlds, which also provided designs for movies such as Avatar and Pirates of the Caribbean, has designed the five-acre site to look like an ancient lost city, according to the Emirates 24/7 website.
The project is expected to become an international dive and snorkel tourism site that will allow the waterfront resort development partners to tap into the $3-billion dive and snorkel market.
“Reef Worlds brand is all about sustainability and the creation of new habitat, while at the same time adding instant tourism revenue and excitement to waterfront resorts,” said Dave Taylor, Reef Worlds development director.
“We will work with carefully selected resort partners on unique underwater habitat projects that directly support our clients’ sustainability and revenue goals.”
