KNAUF Danoline, a well-known acoustic solutions provider for ceilings and partitions, continues to play a key role in providing a better learning environment at new schools being built in the region through its high-quality products.
The company has established a niche in this sector, counting among its ongoing projects the Abu Dhabi Future School programme – an ambitious educational initiative launched by the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) with the support of Abu Dhabi General Services Musanada – in addition to private schools such as Nord Anglia and American Academy schools.
Its range of acoustic gypsum tiles and boards has been used in the construction of purpose-built educational campuses in the GCC that have been designed in line with the requirements of Leed (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and Estidama.
Highlighting the importance of using acoustic boards and tiles in such projects, Rajeev Menon, sales and marketing head of Danogips Middle East – a subsidiary of Knauf Danoline of Denmark – said: “Not only the structural design but also the internal finishes with the right blend of sound absorption and diffusion as well as visual appeal play a vital role in the well-being of the occupants, while providing a surrounding that aims at inspiring and motivating students. Our acoustic products have met such challenges in all the latest institutions with aplomb.”
With its repertoire of acoustic products, the company can integrate its ceilings or linings into any institution’s design, accentuating the environment within classrooms, assembly halls, auditoriums, music rooms and sports halls.
Danogips Middle East general manager Kim Christensen added: “Knauf Danoline, a Nordic company, understands the challenges faced in designing a school building. The Nordic region is famous for its strict acoustic standards, especially in schools.
“When one works on the architecture of schools, one must remember who the end-users are: they are children who tend to be restless and noisy. Every time the bell rings, there could be more than 1,000 children on the move at the same time – which presents an uphill task for acoustic design!
“With our vast experience and know-how, we have been able to provide good acoustics in open areas or in the classrooms of all our school projects.”
“Knauf Danoline has been an instrumental supplier of acoustic ceilings and wall linings for the various major renowned schools and universities across the emirates,” said Biren Parpia, the specifications manager of Danogips Middle East. “The most notable are the Future School Programme, UAE University campus in Al Ain as well as various private school projects, namely the Nord Anglia, American School of Dubai and British School in Barsha.”
The company also introduced in 2013 a wide range of Class A absorbers for all applications, ranging from ceiling and wall linings to self-supporting ceilings and acoustic wall.
Over the past 50 years, the company has established a reputation for combining striking design with superb technical performance. The Knauf Danoline product collection caters to all aspects of design including creativity and sustainability. The company’s website (www.knaufdanoline.com) includes a number of online resources to assist with acoustic challenges, such as a database of acoustic coefficients, an acoustic design guide and an acoustic warranty.
