Bahrain completes key road
Bahraini authorities have completed a key link to the Northern Town project, which involved the construction of a 1.2-km-long road with four lanes in each direction, connecting Janabiya-Budaiya Interchange to the new town.
The scope of work included the development of a road leading to the Northern Town, which consists of eight lanes, said the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.
It is aimed at linking Northern Town to the roads network of the kingdom, where the internal roads are to be implemented by the Housing Ministry, while the main roads surrounding Northern Town, all entrances and exits will be implemented by the Works Ministry, it stated.
The first and main link to Northern Town from the western side is seen as a vital project, as it will connect the new town to Janabiya and Budaiya Interchange.
$521m cable deals awarded
Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has signed two call-off agreements for supply of low-voltage (LV), 11 kV and pilot power cables with Doha Cables and Qatar International Cables Company (QICC), said a report.
The agreements were signed for a period of two years at a total cost of QR1.9 billion ($521.83 million), added the Gulf Times report.
The value of the contract Kahramaa signed with Doha Cables exceeds QR1.24 billion ($340.56 million) while that with QICC is QR640 million ($175.7 million).
The total length of the cables is 10,000 km.
300-bed hospital for Oman
Oman has announced plans to build a new 300-bed specialised hospital in its capital Muscat at an investment of RO100 million ($259.4 million), said a report.
The 48,000-sq-m project is being set up in collaboration with Italy’s second largest private health facility, Gemelli Hospitals, and is likely to be completed in 2020, reported the Muscat Daily.
The initial design of the hospital was prepared by Elixir United Investment Company and Italian engineering consultancy Sering International, it stated.
On completion, the new hospital will help boost the sultanate’s health services sector by providing the latest global technologies and highly skilled human resources in paediatrics, orthopaedics and obstetrics, it added.
