Polin to build waterpark in Oman
Turkey-based Polin Group, a leading water-parks brand, will make its debut in the GCC next year with a new waterpark in Muscat, Oman, a media report said.
The waterpark will be built at Al Bustan in collaboration with the BBH Group, a real estate organisation in the sultanate, reported the Times of Oman.
The construction of the water-park could be completed within a period of seven to 12 months, Dr Khalid Al Matani, chairman of BBH Group, was quoted as saying in the report.
The project, estimated to cost of RO15 million ($38.8 million) will be built on 42,000 sq m and will have 22 water games and slides for both children and adults. There are plans to set up six international restaurants.
Largest underwater park opens
Dive Bahrain, the world’s largest underwater theme park, has officially opened, said a report.
The new theme park in Bahrain was inaugurated by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani on September 6, said a report in BNA.
The initial phase of the project was completed recently by submerging a 70-m-long Boeing 747, 20-22 m underwater north of Bahrain, to become the first attraction of the 100,000-sq-m theme park area. The dive park will also include a replica of a traditional Bahraini pearl merchant’s house, work on which is being overseen and sponsored by Diyar Al Muharraq; an artificial coral reef; and other sculptures that will be fabricated and submerged to provide a safe haven for coral reef growth and a habitat for sustainable marine life.
Cinépolis to open theatre in Muscat
Cinépolis, the third largest cinema operator in the world, is continuing its successful growth across the region with the launch of yet another theatre at Avenues Mall, Muscat, this month.
This follows the opening of a cinema complex in Salalah last month.
Located in Landmark Group’s Oasis Mall, the new Cinépolis Cinema in Salalah features eight state-of-the-art screens that include the company’s large screen format, Macro with Dolby Atmos surround sound and the family-approved Junior auditorium.
The Salalah opening comes eight months after Cinépolis made its debut in the Gulf with the launch of its Bahrain movie theatre at the Atrium Mall, Saar.
The global chain also announced six new locations in Saudi Arabia in June.
