The proposal to build a third bridge on the creek to link Deira with Bur Dubai is under study, a report quoting Dubai planners said.
The 'Al Garhoud project', expected to cost Dh400 million ($108.9 million), will form part of Dubai Municipality's effort to improve traffic flow on the Emirates Road.
The existing Al Garhoud Bridge will not face fundamental changes but it will see some improvements, according to planning chiefs. Officials say the final result will be a 'corridor' stretching for 20 km between Interchange 2 - or the Al Safa Interchange on Sheikh Zayed Road - and ending on the Sharjah outskirts near Al Nahda Interchange on Al Ittihad Road.
