Mall of Emirates doubles in size

Construction work on Majid A1 Futtaim's Souk Al Nakheel scheme on Shaikh Zayed road in Dubai will begin soon, according to reports.
The scheme, which is now called Mall of the Emirates has doubled in size, said a top official. The new mall will house the third largest indoor ski resort in the world and is expected to open in the autumn of 2005, he said.
'The uniqueness of the Mall of the Emirates goes beyond its size - it will offer the first integrated shopping and ski resort destination in the Middle East where visitors and residents can experience both the convenience of shopping for international brands and a fun-filled day at an Alpine snow resort,' said Peter Walichnowski, chief executive officer of Majid Al Futtaim Investments.
The Mall of the Emirates will also offer unsurpassed shopping facilities, with the region's largest department stores and the most prestigious international brands, within 2.4 million sq ft of lease area, he added.
To date, over one million sq ft has been leased, including a range of fashion and food outlets already announced.
