Conference Palace hotel half-way complete

More than 50 per cent of the work on the Dh1.4 billion ($400 million) Abu Dhabi Conference Palace Hotel Development at Abu Dhabi Corniche has been completed.

The project, which is being undertaken by the Dubai-based Six Construct Limited, is being set up close to the headquarters of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc). UK's Wimberly Allison Tong and Goo in joint venture with KEO International Consultants are the architects.
The centre will house one of the largest conference facilities in the region as well as entertainment and business outlets.

The project involves construction of a convention centre comprising of conference centre, palace and hotel and is expected to be completed by July 2004, in time to host the GCC summit to be held in Abu Dhabi. The hotel, which has 440 rooms and suites, has a sandy beachfront set within large areas of landscaped gardens, modelled on the intricated design at Versailles in Paris, France.

Voltas International of India is building the $54-million central cooling plant and infrastructure for the Conference Palace Hotel. It covers the installation of a central cooling plant of 12,000 tonnes capacity and related infrastructure and also the installation of 8 MW of generation capacity.

Emirates Trading Agency (ETA), mechanical and electrical division is another specialist contractor of the Abu Dhabi Conference Palace Hotel development.
