$270m tourist lagoon shapes up

01 May 2004

Al Hamra for Realty Development has recently launched its $270 million Al Hamra Village, a real estate and tourism project on Red Island in Ras Al Khaimah.

The plans for the development were designed by a consortium of design practices in Dubai, led by premier architectural practice – Design and Architecture Bureau (DAR Consult).
The island is an area of outstanding natural beauty, and once complete, Al Hamra Village – which is being developed around a largelagoon directly connected to the Arabian Gulf – will comprise three new hotels and more than 1,200 residential dwellings developed around an 18-hole golf course.
The project will have direct access from the Dubai-Ras Al Khaimah road. Al Hamra Village would be within an hour’s drive from Dubai and about 10 minutes from downtown Ras Al Khaimah, says a spokesman for DAR.
The consortium has uniquely designed each and every unit of the project that is scattered around a long lagoon beachfront and beautifully-detailed landscaped gardens.
The residential units are a mixed variety of units, which correspond to the different needs of customers, starting from studio flats all the way to prestigious five bedroom villas. The development includes a multi-purpose commercial ‘shopping’ area and several local utility centres.
The residents and guests would enjoy sophisticated health and sports club facilities including with various water sports and amenities, ensuring a tropical resort life, which would be extended to an every day experience, says the spokesman.
