Mohammed Jalal to promote Genie range

01 April 2008

The engineering and technology division (E&T division) of Bahrain-based Mohammed Jalal & Sons will be promoting a wide range of Genie articulated scissor, telescopic and aerial work platforms from the US-based Terex at the gulfBID 2008 in a bid to target the growing applications for this equipment in the booming construction market.

“We will be displaying two aerial work platforms – the AWP40S AC units from the Genie AWP Super Series range. The durability, lightweight design and compact size of these personnel lifts make them ideal for rental, light-duty construction and maintenance,” says general manager Nevin Megchiani.
Commenting on the company’s participation at gulfBID, Megchiani says: “Our principals Terex Middle East exhibited at last year’s gulfBID, and in conjunction with them we received many leads, which we have subsequently followed-up. After last year’s response, it was agreed that Mohammed Jalal & Sons’ E&T division would participate in 2008.”
“The GCC is in the midst of unprecedented growth in construction and we are experiencing considerable growth as well. As a local supplier of Genie equipment, Mohammed Jalal & Sons E&T division is ideally placed to promote the relevant applications of these products to the construction sector and we anticipate our appearance at gulfBID will help strengthen our business.”
To meet the requirements of the market, Mohammed Jalal & Sons’ E&T division – which began its activities almost 42 years ago – has diversified its activities in important business areas and its portfolio to include aerial work platforms such as scissor, telescopic, articulated and personnel lifts; specialised vehicles, security and search equipment and X-ray machines; breathing air compressors; construction and industrial machines; process automation and instrumentation control as well as serving the needs of the oil, petrochemical, power, water, construction, airport and seaport facilities. The division has recently been awarded ISO 9001:2000 certification.
Each department acts as a business unit activity managed by a team headed by an experienced and capable manager and supported by well-trained engineers and an efficient after-sales support team to ensure customer satisfaction. The E&T division has developed a sophisticated system to provide after-sales service, with its staff regularly undergoing training programmes organised by its principals. An extensive stock of spare parts is also maintained to support the supply of machinery and equipment to its customers, while a spare parts inventory is managed by one of the latest computer systems, following regular replenishment schedules with manufacturers.
The division also has a fully-equipped workshop complete with specialised tools and staffed with skilled engineers who are trained by the equipment manufacturers and experienced mechanics to assemble equipment and carry out pre-delivery inspection and regular servicing schedules in accordance with the manufacturers’ recommendations. The company trains its clients in the safe operation procedures and maintenance requirements of their machinery and equipment and also has a workshop that undertakes annual preventive maintenance contracts.
With the rapid growth in the construction market, the division has been experiencing increasing demand for its services.
“Construction will continue to grow for the foreseeable future in the region, where projects are currently estimated at around $2 trillion. As business expands, we anticipate that we will diversify into new areas and products in the future. The E&T division is constantly looking to develop the company’s long-term strategies for the future, working together for the continued success of the company. With this, we believe we can exceed the targets that our management, customers and business partners expect from us,” Megchiani says.
“Our new goal is to maintain our growth and continuously improve our performance to meet the challenges of the 21st century; ensuring that our customers continue to receive even better services and support personally,” says S M Pillai, sales manager. “We look forward to the new challenges and we will continue to achieve even bigger targets that our management, our customers and our business partners expect from us.”
Mohammed Jalal & Sons, as a diversified and entrepreneurial company specialising in trading, construction and engineering and services, currently serves a wide range of businesses, institutions, emergency services and industries operating in the kingdom.
It will be present at Stand 1C50 at gulfBID 2008.
