Veneer ace set to showcase the latest

01 April 2008

Chabros, a leading player in the wood and veneer supply industry will be showcasing its expanded portfolio of products at gulfBID.

Established in the 1960s, the firm has evolved from having a single company in Beirut in Lebanon into a group of companies spread throughout the Gulf.
“Due to a considerable increase in demand and operational size, Chabros will expand its geographic coverage of the UAE and intends to open a new head office in Jebel Ali and a branch in Jordan shortly. The company also intends to set up further branches in Armenia, Kuwait and Syria,” says vice president, Nicolas Moussally.
Tracing the company’s growth, Moussally elaborates: “During the late sixties, due to the growing environment awareness and hence the restrictions on the felling of wood, the world turned to veneer instead of solid wood for wood production because of its ecological and economical benefit; and Chabros pioneered these veneers in Lebanon and later on the region, as an alternative.”
He continues: “Our vision, since the beginning, was to expand our business further in order meet with the industry’s demands. However, due to the wars and political unrest in Lebanon, we could not pursue that vision until 1998 when we ventured into the GCC with the establishment of our Dubai branch. Over the last 10 years, Chabros has expanded into the GCC, Levant, North Africa, and East Europe, and today employs more than 600 staff across its branches in Beirut, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, Muscat, Cairo, as well as its mills in Europe.”
With a turnover of $100 million per annum, Chabros has established a niche in the region, as its product lines range from the standard to the exotic. Through its affiliates all over the world, Chabros International Group procures raw material of high standards and qualities to meet the demands of the different markets in Africa, Asia and Australia. Due to its strategic alliances with mills in Africa, North/South America and Europe, as well as its own mills in Europe, the group has expanded its chain of supply to incorporate all wood-related activities, and from the source directly to the consumer.
In recent years, Chabros has broadened the spectrum of its product lines to include the distribution of mother of pearl laminates and Duroxill UF powder glue. The company has also expanded its services to include production in the form of inlays, veneered boards and marquetry/parquetry designs through the use of various splicing, cutting and laser machines in its different locations.
ISO-certified Chabros has become firmly established in different markets of the Gulf due to its reputation for supplying high-quality products and exceptional services. It has been involved in some of the most prestigious projects in the region, including the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, Al Faisaliah Centre in Riyadh, and the Four Points Sheraton hotel in Doha, to name a few.
Chabros’ Stand No at gulfBID is 2A18.
