Oman’s Majan Development Company (MDC) has announced plans to set up a healthcare city near Muscat with an estimated investment of up to $1.03 billion, according to the project’s promoter, Kuwait-based Gulf Investment House (GIH).
An international consultancy agency has conducted market research for the project.
“A feasibility study for the project is now under way,” said Bashar Al Tuwaijri, of GIH.
The healthcare city will be constructed on a build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis and construction is expected to start next year.
Oman’s Ministry of Tourism has agreed to allot 1 million sq m near Blue City. The project is said to include medical colleges, hospitals, conference halls, hotels and shopping malls.
