Ducab wins $217m order

DUCAB has won a contract to supply low-voltage (LV) wires and power cables for the Al Raha Beach development project in Abu Dhabi.

Under the agreement with the Aldar Laing O’Rourke Construction (Alor) joint venture, estimated at Dh800 million ($217 million) worth of cables, Ducab will supply LV wires and power cables valued at Dh100 million ($27.2 million) per annum.
The agreement was signed by Ducab managing director Andrew Shaw and Alor head of procurement Ken Farey. Also present were Alor commercial director John O’Connor, Aldar commercial manager Simon Draycott, and David Lee from EC Harris, appointed to provide the commercial ­management services on the project.
The Al Raha Beach development will offer a built-up area of 12 million sq m. The project will require nearly 70 km of 22 kV cables before it is completed in 2015.
