Industrial city on the rise

01 April 2009

DUBAI Industrial City (DIC), the emirate’s first dedicated industrial destination is expected to have some 30 factories operational at the 560 million sq ft development by the end of this year.

Some 64 showrooms equipped with storage facilities at DIC’s warehouse complex are now ready under the first phase. Also, grading work on the project’s 167 million sq ft Phase Two has been completed within a record time of eight months.
The grading work, which included the levelling of land and demarcation of plots, was expedited to help investors commence construction work on their respective industrial units.
Rashed Al Ansari, vice-president of DIC, says: “We are proud to announce the early completion of grading work for Phase Two. In keeping with our firm commitment to create a vibrant industrial destination, we have initiated appropriate measures to ensure investors gain possession of their designated plots and begin construction work as soon as possible.
Some of the 30 factories that are expected to be in operation by the year-end will be located in Phase Two of the project.
The recently-completed showrooms at DIC are designed for use as offices or retail and product display areas.
Available for lease, the showrooms feature two double floors, each spanning 5,000 sq ft, as well as an additional 5,000 sq ft of storage space located at the rear of the building.
“Delivering these 64 showrooms demonstrates the fast-track progress achieved by Dubai Industrial City in providing world-class facilities that complement the needs of the township,” says Al Ansari.
All showrooms offer modular designs that can be expanded in multiples of 5,000 sq ft depending on clients’ requirements.
DIC comprises six industrial clusters featuring food and beverage, base metal, mineral products, chemicals, transport equipment and parts, and machinery and mechanical equipment.
The city is located adjacent to the Al Maktoum International Airport (Dubai World Central) and in close proximity to Jebel Ali Port and Free Zone.
